Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk A/S (NOVO-B.KO) said Wednesday it will launch diabetes treatment Victoza in Japan in June, as the country's authorities have now approved the price of the drug.

Victoza will be commercially launched shortly after the drug is officially posted on Japan's National Health Insurance price list June 11, Novo Nordisk said.

Victoza, which belongs to the relatively new GLP-1 analogue class of diabetes drugs, was approved in Japan in January.

It has previously been approved and launched in markets including the U.S. and the European Union.

Shares in Novo Nordisk closed Tuesday at DKK466.60.
