Need for clinical researchers stressed

There is a dire need for clinical research personnel at various levels in pharma and biotechnology industries," said R S Paranjape, director, National AIDS Research Institute ( NARI). He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day seminar on clinical research organised by the Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC) that kick-started at the Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences on February 25.

Paranjape emphasised that quality control is one of the neglected areas of clinical research. He pointed out the need for research in diseases like TB and malaria as it is being done for HIV.

Experts and research faculties from various research, educational institutes and pharma industries will be deliberating on various subjects in the seminar. Subjects related to clinical research, such as study design, biostatistics, pharmacovigilance, clinical data management, regulatory affairs, medical writing, good clinical practice, research methodology, business and administrative aspects of clinical research, will be discussed.
