European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) 2022

"Hospital pharmacists – changing roles in a changing world" will be the theme for the presentations at the 2022 EAHP Con­gress in Vienna.

During last year's virtual congress, we focused on digitalization and automation to improve future patient care. I sup­pose that these new technologies found their way into your daily practice or at least gave you inspiration for new projects.

But these changes go beyond the hospital pharmacy and even beyond the hospital and healthcare; the whole world is evolving quickly which results in new needs and expectations from society.

This year we will help you to determine and to explore the changing roles of hospital pharmacists in this evolving scene. This is an invitation to all of you to join us in Vienna not only for science and networking but also to celebrate EAHP’s 50th anniversary.

The 26th EAHP Congress will offer you inspiration to prepare for this changing world and how to embrace the opportunities to guarantee optimal patient care within the available resources.

The first keynote presentation is dedicated to "Value-based healthcare" as a possible financing model to keep healthcare affordable in the future. What really matters to the patient will be the subject of the second keynote lecture, followed by a 3rd keynote on cell and gene therapies.

Like last year we have connected more than 20 seminars and workshops, which are open for interaction with the speakers, to different Sections of the European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy.

Some of the hot topics are cell and gene therapy, collaboration across hospitals, 3D printing of medical devices, the use of bacteriophages in antimicrobial stewardship, lean management and waste reduction. Information will be shared during the seminars in the form of presentations by two or three speakers allowing sufficient time for questions.

A seminar dedicated to current topics in pharmacotherapy will be added to the format of the EAHP Congress. Along with keynotes and seminars, best practices will be disseminated by our abstract poster prize nominees and through the Good Practice Initiatives (GPIs).

In addition, workshops within the theme of the congress will be given providing inspiration on evidence-based decision making, risk management, prescribing cascades, patient centred medication review, paediatric compounding, financing future healthcare and managing difficult situations. Based on the success of last year's congress, the Synergy programme is extended and will continue with many relevant topics.
