S-BIO Launches EZGlyco® O-Glyan Prep Kit

S-Bio US has been launched of the EZGlyco® O-Glyan Prep Kit, a breakthrough research tool that enables scientists to prepare O-glycans from glycoproteins in a streamlined, rapid and reliable operation. S-BIO is a global brand for life science products of Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd.

S-BIO’s new EZGlyco® O-Glyan Prep Kit is a versatile sample preparation method, uses non-toxic reagents and a simple workflow to release, enrich, label and purify O-glycans in 5 hours for HPLC and LC-MS analysis facilitating glycoprotein characterization for biotherapeutic development, mucins and glycomics biomarker discovery. “S-BIO’s EZGlyco® O-glycan kit allows for relatively quick and reliable O-glycan analysis in support of ongoing BioPharma projects,” comments Jason Koch, senior analytical scientist at a global animal health pharmaceutical company.

Detailed analysis of glycoproteins requires researchers to release glycans prior to characterization. Unlike N-glycans, O-glycan release currently uses toxic chemicals and requires a complex 2-3 day protocol due to the lack of universal enzymes to cleave the complete glycan from proteins. The new EZGlyco® O-Glyan Prep Kit is based on a unique O-glycan releasing method using a high reactive amine and an organic superbase, in combination with a newly developed resin for O-glycan purification providing for high recovery and less degradation (peeling) of released O-glycans resulting in increased robustness of analysis.

O-glycan analysis is critical for evaluation of glycosylation heterogeneity of biopharmaceuticals. “The combination of releasing reagents and resin in the kit provides unmatched speed, ease of use, with precise O-glycans released for HPLC and LC-MS analysis,” states Dr. Anju M. Dang, Director, S-BIO. “Changes in O-glycosylation are important in many diseases including cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s. We believe our new kit will help researchers develop a deeper understanding of the role O-glycans play.”
